The European Olympic Committees (EOC) have added four new members to its Athletes' Commission.

The body, chaired by Estonia's discus thrower Gerd Kanter, initially featured six summer athletes and two from winter sports.

They were all elected at the EOC Athletes' General Assembly in Monaco in October.

It is standard procedure for the EOC Executive Committee to co-opt two members from the previous Athletes' Committee, but it was also decided to add an additional two members.

Polish speed skater Luiza Zlotkowska, a double Olympic medallist, and Finland's Sochi 2014 moguls silver medal winner Mikko Ronkainen are the two members co-opted from the previous Commission.

Ukraine's sabre fencer Olga Kharlan, a team Olympic gold medallist at Beijing 2008, and Portuguese triathlete Joao Pedro Lopes Da Silva will also take seats after being drawn from candidates who missed out on election in Monaco.

"The motivation behind the Executive Committee's decision is to have a well-balanced team across sports and also geographically, that can contribute actively to the EOC's activities," an EOC statement said.

Kanter deputy is Hungary's Balazs Baji, a 110 metre hurdler.

Irish hockey player David Harte is the secretary of the body, while other members are Italian diver Tania Cagnotto, Latvian sprinter Gunta Latiseva-Cudare, Turkish basketball player Nevriye Yilmaz, Slovakian biathlete Jana Daubnerova and Norwegian cross-country skier Eldar Rønning.
