Australia set-up a final with arch-rivals New Zealand at the Women's World Rugby Sevens Series event in Sydney after another strong day of performances on home soil.

The host nation began the day with a 29-0 thrashing of Spain in the quarter-finals at the Allianz Stadium.

They then beat Russia 31-0 in the semi-final.

This means that they have reached the final without conceding a single try.

New Zealand were equally impressive in their semi-final today, though.

They scored 26 unanswered points in a straightforward victory over Canada.

Fiji, South Africa, Argentina and Australia all negated the pool stages unbeaten in the corresponding men's competition.

New Zealand, winners of the last World Series leg in Cape Town last month, were edged-out in a thrilling Group A clash with Fiji in which they led 17-14 before conceding a try with the last play of the game to lose 19-17.

Kenya finished second in Group B after recovering a nine-point deficit to beat France 17-14.

All quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals are scheduled for tomorrow.

Fiji will now play United States for a place in the last-four and South Africa will take on Kenya.

Australia are scheduled to play neighbours New Zealand and Argentina will be up against old rivals England.
