Australian duo Dylan Alcott and Heath Davidson claimed the quads title by beating Great Britain's Andy Lapthorne and David Wagner of the United States in the final of the Australian Open wheelchair tennis tournament.

Paralympic champions Alcott and Davidson breezed through the first set, winning it 6-0 in just 23 minutes.

However, Lapthorne and Wagner recovered well to tie the match with a 7-6 victory in the second.

Eventually, it was Alcott and Davidson who came out on top at Melbourne Park, winning the final set 10-6 in front of a partisan home crowd.

After his team's win, Davidson said: "Happy days for us.

"I love getting out there and playing with this guy [Alcott].

"We've played together in three massive tournaments and won two of them - Paralympic gold and now a Grand Slam."

In the men's doubles, British duo Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett came through a three-set match against Argentina's Gustavo Fernandez and Japan's Shingo Kunieda to book their place in the final.

Number one seeds Reid and Hewett looked like they were set to win the match with ease after taking the first set 6-1 only for Fernandez, who was the top seed before he was knocked out of the men's singles yesterday, and Kunieda to recover well and take the second 6-4.

In the end, it was Wimbledon champions Reid and Hewett who came out on top with a 10-6 win in the deciding set.

They will now face French pair Stephane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer, who they defeated in last year's Wimbledon final, in tomorrow's final.

Paralympic champions Houdet and Peifer secured victory over Australia's Adam Kellerman and Sweden's Stefan Olsson, 6-2, 6-2 in their semi-final.

The women's doubles final will see Marjolein Buis of The Netherlands and Japan's Yui Kamiji face Dutch duo Diede de Groot and Aniek van Koot.

Buis and Kamiji defeated South Africa's Kgothatso Montjane and Britain's Lucy Shuker 6-1, 6-3 whilst de Groot and van Koot beat German pair Sabine Ellerbrock and Katharina Kruger 6-2, 6-4.
