France’s Benjamin Daviet completed the perfect sweep of all World Para Nordic Skiing World Cup events on day two of the competition in Oberried.

After winning gold medals in all of the standing cross-country and biathlon events he competed in at the season opener in Canmore in Canada, the Sochi 2014 Paralympic bronze medallist proved he is one of the most versatile Nordic skiers on the circuit by claiming the men’s cross-country long distance race today in the German town of Oberried.

This means Daviet has now won a gold medal in all the disciplines this season.

The 28-year-old, winner of three Nordic world titles in Germany last year, started the race well but was trailing Ukraine’s Ihor Reptyukh with just two laps to go.

Daviet, however, recovered to eventually take the gold medal in a time of 42min 41.4sec.

Reptyukh claimed the silver medal in 42:44.4 with Russia's Vladislav Lekomtsev, competing as a neutral athlete, in third in 44:07.8.

As was the case yesterday, Russian athletes competed as neutrals dominated many of the events of the day.

Ivan Golubkov claimed the gold medal in the men’s sitting event in 37,25.0 with compatriot Alexander Davidovich a further 67 seconds back in second.

Ukraine’s Maksym Yarovyi battled back up from sixth to claim the final place on the podium in 40:09.2.

The third men’s event of the day, the visually impaired race, was also won by a Russian with Stanislav Chokhlaev taking the top prize in 42:18.4.

He was pushed very closely by Canada’s Brian McKeever, who recorded 42:36.3.

Russia's Nikolai Polukhin claimed the bronze medal, despite being nearly two minutes behind the winner.

Mikhalina Lysova, another Russia, took the top prize in the women’s visually impaired in 43:21.7.

She finished ahead of Ukraine’s Oksana Shyshkova and Austria’s Carina Edlinger, who claimed the silver and bronze medals in times of 43:57.9 and 44:41.9 respectively.

Ekaterina Rumyantseva completed the list of Russian gold medal winners today as she claimed the women's standing title in 42:49.2.

Ukrainian athletes rounded off the podium places with Yuliia Batenkova-Bauman and Iryna Bui taking silver and bronze medals respectively.

Batenkova-Bauman completed the course in 44:40.1 and Bui finished in 46:04.8.

The only women's event to not be won by a Russian today was the women's sitting where Oksana Masters of the United States claimed her second gold medal in two days thanks to a time of 35:47.5.

Russia's Irina Guliaeva was 2min 35.6sec behind in the silver medal position with Norway's Birgit Skarstein completing the podium lineup in a time of 38:52.4.

The event is due to continue tomorrow.
