A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by the Agenzia Regionale Universiadi (ARU) and the Regional University Committee (CUR) in Campania to help with preparations for the 2019 Summer Universiade in Naples.

The ARU, the local body in charge of the preparations for the Universiade, have penned an agreement with the CUR to give students and those who have recently graduated potential roles in the Organising Committee.

The MoU will "develop curricular interships for students and extracurricular internships" for newly graduated students in Campania, the regional capital of which is Naples.

Engineers and architects are among those who will join the Naples 2019 Organising Committee as part of the agreement.

"The aim is to create a learning and working experience in the Organising Committee," a statement from the ARU said.

The move has been praised by ARU general Gianluca Basile, who believes both the Organising Committee and the CUR will benefit from the MoU.

"We have reached an important target that allow us to involve, right away, students and graduated in such event," he said.

"Their work experience will grow up in parallel with our Universiade."

The signing of the MoU comes after Naples 2019 stepped up their recruitment process for key roles for the Summer Universiade.

The ARU have sought to to secure highly quality individuals as they build their team for the event.

Naples was officially confirmed as the host in May 2016 following a reopened bidding process after Brasilia withdrew in January 2015.

The Brazilian capital were unable to meet financial commitments.
