Dmitry Loginov and Andrey Sobolev won gold and silver, respectively, in the parallel slalom event of the International Ski Federation [FIS] Snowboard World Cup in Bad Gastein.

Loginov, a gold medallist at the 2016 FIS Snowboard Junior World Championships, collected 1000 race points thanks to his victory, with Sobolev collecting 800 for finishing second.

Despite winning today’s race at the Austrian venue, Loginov remains only fifth in the overall parallel slalom World Cup rankings on 1969.70 points.

Rankings leader Nevin Galmarni, of Italy, could only reach the quarter-final of today’s race, losing to Switzerland’s Maurizio Bormolini, who eventually claimed bronze.

Germany’s Ramona Theresia Hofmeister claimed her first-ever senior World Cup title in the women’s event, beating Russia’s Ekaterina Tudegesheva.

Michelle Dekker, of The Netherlands, completed the podium line-up thanks to her small final victory over Tudegesheva’s compatriot, Natalia Soboleva.

Classic parallel slalom rankings leader Sabine Schöffmann could only finish tenth after a disappointing day on home snow.

Although she did not compete in today’s event, Ester Ledecka of the Czech Republic is still top of the overall slalom rankings on 3290.00 points.

Today’s two finalists, Hofmeister and Tudegesheva, have leapt up the women's rankings after their good displays.

Hofmeister, a two-time World Cup bronze medallist who was outside the top five prior to today's event, has moved up to third whilst Tudegesheva has moved up two places from fourth to second.

The athletes will now head to Rogla in Slovenia, the venue for the 2016 FIS Snowboard Junior World Championships, for giant parallel slalom events taking place from January 20 to 21.
