The first International Ski Federation Ski Cross World Cup of 2018 is scheduled to begin tomorrow with Idre Fjäll set to play host.

Men's and women's qualification will be spread across the opening two days of action in the Swedish resort before finals are held on Saturday (January 13) and Sunday (January 14).

Switzerland's Marc Bischofberger currently leads the men's World Cup standings with 302 points.

Last time out in the Italian town of Innichen, the 26-year-old claimed two wins in as many days.

France's Terence Tchiknavorian is second in the standings with 216 points, while Sweden's Viktor Andersson is third with 211.

Sweden's Sandra Naeslund heads the women's World Cup standings with 420 points.

She regained top spot having won the second of two events in Innichen last month.

Germany's Heidi Zacher is second with 385 points, while Canada's Georgia Simmerling is third with 255.

The event in Idre Fjäll is the penultimate Ski Cross World Cup before the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Nakiska in Canada is due to host a two-day event on January 19 and January 20.

Pyeongchang 2018 is scheduled to take place from February 9 to 25.

The men's and women's Olympic ski cross events are set to be held on February 21 and February 23 respectively.
