Egypt’s Nour El Sherbini comfortably progressed to the quarter-finals of the Professional Squash Association Saudi Women's Masters with another straight games win.

The world number one met fellow Egyptian Hania El Hammamy in the second round at the Princess Nora bint Abdul Rahman University in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh.

El Sherbini was challenged in the opening game of the match, but ultimately breezed through to earn an impressive 11-9, 11-7, 11-3 win.

Her reward will be a last eight showdown with India’s Dipika Pallikal Karthik, who was a surprise 11-9, 12-10, 11-7 winner against seventh seed Alison Waters, of England.

Nouran Gohar was involved in a tense four-game match against England’s Victoria Lust, but the Egyptian eventually emerged as the winner.

The fourth seed eventually overcame her opponent 11-9, 11-5, 5-11, 11-5.

Gohar progresses to a clash with New Zealand’s Joelle King, after she defeated Hong Kong’s Annie Au.

There was further success for Egyptian players when third seed Raneem El Welily saw off the challenge of Olivia Blatchford.

She restricted the American player to just one point in the opening game to assert her dominance, before going on to triumph 11-1, 11-7, 11-4.

El Welily is now set to take on Sarah-Jane Perry, with the English player having won her second round match 11-5, 7-11, 11-7, 11-6 against Wales’ Tasni Evans.

Malaysia’s eight-time world champion Nicol David progressed via a 6-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-7 win over India’s Joshna Chinappa.

There was a surprised when France’s Camille Serme fell to a 13-15, 11-13, 11-5, 11-6, 11-4 loss to Egypt’s Nour El Tayeb in their quarter-final.

The competition is the first professional women's squash event to take place in Saudi Arabia.

The top eight players in the standings at the end of the season will guarantee their participation at the Professional Squash Association World Series Finals in June.
