Mikaela Shiffrin will chase a seventh victory in eight International Ski Federation Alpine World Cup starts when a slalom night race takes place tomorrow in the Austrian resort of Flachau.

Shiffrin is unbeaten in 2018 and claimed the 40th World Cup win of her career when triumphing by a mammoth 1.64 seconds at a slalom race in Kranjska Gora yesterday.

She will be hoping to improve upon a share of third place in Flachau at last season's event.

Frida Hansdotter of Sweden was the winner last time around.

Nina Løseth of Norway was second and Wendy Holdener of Switzerland also finished third.

Hansdotter lies fourth in the World Cup slalom rankings after seven of 12 legs on 371 points.

Shiffrin, the overall World Cup champion and Sochi 2014 Olympic slalom gold medallist, holds a huge lead with her tally of 680.

Slovakia's Petra Vlhová sits second on 445 while Holdener is third on 405.

Training will also begin tomorrow for the men's downhill World Cup leg in the Swiss resort of Wengen.

Racing is due to take place on Saturday (January 13).
