World number one Nour El Sherbini cruised into the second round of the Professional Squash Association Saudi Women's Masters with a straight games win.

The Egyptian star crushed France's Coline Aumard 11-2 in the opening game of the tie in Saudi Arabia's capital city Riyadh.

El Sherbini maintained the momentum in the remaining games to complete a comfortable 11-2, 11-7, 11-7 victory at the Princess Nora bint Abdul Rahman University.

The tournament top seed will meet fellow Egyptian Hania El Hammamy in the second round, following her 11-7, 11-8, 11-7 win over Australia's Donna Urquhart.

Egyptian success continued with fourth seed Nouran Gohan easing past the challenge of Rachael Grinham in straight games.

She secured a 11-5, 11-9, 11-8 win over her Australian opponent.

Gohan is now set to play England's Victoria Lust, who beat Egypt's Nadine Shahin 4-11, 12-14, 11-8, 11-7, 11-8.

There was a comfortable win for New Zealand's Joelle King over Fiona Moverley, as she triumphed 11-5, 11-9, 11-6 over her English rival.

King will face the challenge of Hong Kong's Annie Au in the second round, following a 8-11, 11-2, 11-5, 11-2 win over England's Jenny Duncalf.

The second half of the draw will play their first round matches tomorrow, with the highlight being second seed Camille Serme of France set to take on Saudi Arabia's home favourite Nada Abo Alnaja.

The competition is the first professional women's squash event to take place in Saudi Arabia.

The top eight players in the standings at the end of the season will guarantee their participation at the Professional Squash Association World Series Finals in June.
