Teenagers Choi Da-bin and Kim Ha-nul have each secured spots in the South Korean figure skating team for Pyeongchang 2018.

The duo finished in first and second place respectively in the women's singles at the Olympic Trials which ended in Mokdong Ice Rink in Seoul today.

Choi, 17, the reigning Asian Winter Games champion, scored 190.12 points at the Korea Figure Skating Championships, which was the third and final qualifying event, for a total of 540.28 overall.

It follows a tough year on and off the ice in which her mother passed away in June.

"Looking back on recent months, I've gone through so much," she told the Korea Herald after qualifying for her home Games in Febraury.

"I am glad I've been able to overcome them.

Both will be making their Winter Olympic debuts on home ice next month.
