Dawid Kubacki topped qualification at the concluding ski jump event of the Four Hills Tournament in Bischofshofen.

The Polish jumper achieved a jump of 136 metres to finish qualification on a total of 139.9 points, placing him first of the 50 athletes to progress to tomorrow’s final.

He was followed by Norway’s Johann Andre Forfang and Switzerland’s Simon Kraft, who managed 136.3 and 133.5 points respectively.

The home crowd were able to celebrate a strong qualification for Stefan Kraft, with the Austrian jumping 134m to end on 133 points.

Tournament leader Kamil Stoch placed fifth on 132.3 points, as the Polish athlete prepares for his bid to become only the second man to win all four competitions in the tournament.

He has already triumphed at the first two events at Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany, before winning yesterday’s event in Innsbruck.

Having won the final event of last year’s tournament, Stoch could equal the record of five straight wins managed by Germany’s Helmut Recknagel and Hannawald.

Stoch’s nearest challenger Richard Freitag was unable to take to the start today, following a fall in yesterday’s competition.

While the German’s athletes’ injuries were not serious, he was encouraged not to compete in today’s event, ending his chances of winning the tournament.

Each event counts towards the International Ski Federation Ski Jumping World Cup season standings, which Freitag leads.
