Cyclist Mark Cavendish heads a 32-member Isle of Man team for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The 30-time Tour de France stage winner was the last athlete from the island to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal, when he triumphed in the men's scratch race at Melbourne 2006.

Cavendish could benefit from a flat course in Gold Coast, which could lead to a bunch sprint at the end of the road race.

He will be joined in the men's cycling team by Sam Brand, Nathan Draper, Jake Kelly and brothers Leon and Tom Mazzone.

The team does not contain Peter Kennaugh, who won a silver medal in the men's points race at Glasgow 2014.

However, it remains possible Kennaugh could be added at a later stage, should his Bora-Hansgrohe team allow him to compete at the Games.

Anna Christian and Lizzie Holden will compete in the women's cycling road race, while Matthew Bostock and Matthew Draper will compete on the track and Nick Corlett shall contest the mountain bike race.

The Isle of Man's athletics team includes javelin thrower Joe Harris and walker Erika Kelly, while Kim Clague, Ben Li, Jessica Li and Cristen Marritt will participate in badminton.

Clive and Mark McGreal will be the island's two representatives in lawn bowls competition, with the Isle of Man poised to be represented by Rachel Glover, Jake Keeling, Gemma Kermode, Tim Kneale, Neil Parsons and David Walton in shooting.

Swimmers Charlotte Atkinson, Stephanie Brew, Guy Davies, Laura Kinley and Niamh Robinson are also named in the squad, which is completed by triathlete Jenny Newbery.

The Commonwealth Games will take place from April 4 to 15.
