Enkhtuya Khurelbaatar's victory at the World Para Taekwondo Championships has been chosen as the 24th best moment of 2017 by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

The Mongolian triumphed in the under-49 kilograms K44 division at the event in London as she defeated Mexican opponent Claudia Romero in the final.

It followed a meteoric rise for the 27-year-old, who was unranked as recently as two years ago.

Khurelbaatar has also won the last two Asian Championships and the 2016 Oceania Open in addition to her world crown.

She credited the Mongolian Taekwondo Federation for her success before targeting the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

"Para-taekwondo has opened my eyes to the world," she added.

"I have far more self-confidence now.

"I hope to open the minds of women with impairments and show that you can be something - in sport, at work, in life - even with an impairment."

The IPC are continuing a countdown of their top moments of the year until Sunday (December 31).
