Tributes have been paid to Frédéric Fallon after he announced his retirement following 40-years at the Belgian Olympic and Sport Committee (COIB).

Fallon held many roles during his career, starting off in charge of legal affairs but also taking roles in human resources, finance and press.

He was also responsible for VVIPs at various editions of the Olympic Games and was a contact person for National Federations.

"In short, he has worn - and each time with passion and enthusiasm - almost all the hats available at the COIB," a European Olympic Committees statement said.

The COIB paid tribute to Fallon on their website, for his "commitment and dedication, which allowed the Belgian Olympic Movement to enact to the best the organisational and technological changes that they had to face".

His many responsibilities have now been divided among his colleagues.

Sophie Paris will now be in charge of internal affairs and legal aspects, while Matthias Van Baelen will be in charge of external affairs from January after joining from the European Union.

Natacha Favresse and Luc Coppens will take over finance, while the management of human resources has been handed to Daniela Jost.
