New Zealand earned men’s team pursuit gold as the International Cycling Union (UCI) Track World Cup in Santiago came the a close.

Their quartet of Campbell Stewart, Jared Gray, Nicholas Kergozou and Harry Waine progressed to the final of the competition at the Peñalolén Velodrome.

They were able to top the podium after recording a winning time of 3min 54.618sec against Japan, who settled for the silver medal on 4:02.740.

Bronze was earned by the United States, as they achieved a time of 4:04.163 to beat South Korea.

Lithuania’s Vasilijus Lendel emerged as the winner of the men’s sprint competition, following a tightly fought battle with Denis Dmitriev.

The Russian cyclist won the opening race of the final, but Lendel struck back to force and ultimately win a decider to secure gold.

Andrii Vynokurov added to the keirin silver medal he won yesterday by securing sprint bronze, with the Ukrainian beating Tomoyuki Kawabata of Japan in straight rides.

The final men’s event of the World Cup was won by Daniel Holloway, who topped the standings at the conclusion of the omnium.

He achieved third place finishes in the scratch and elimination races, but triumphed in the tempo race.

The American was among several cyclists to gain a lap in the concluding points race, where he finished with a winning total of 146 points.

Japan’s Eiya Hashimoto and Ukraine’s Roman Gladysh completed the podium places, ending on 143 and 128 points respectively.

There was further success for the American team in the women’s keirin, with Madalyn Godby triumphing in the final.

She finished in front of Natasha Hansen of New Zealand and Ukraine’s Liubov Basova, who completed the podium places.

Basova would secure two medals on the final day of action, as she won the women’s team sprint with Olena Starikova.

They achieved a time of 32.512 in the final to beat China’s Shanju Bao and Yufang Guo, who were riding for the Holy Brother Cycling Team.

The podium was completed by Kim Wong-yeong and Lee Hye-jin of South Korea, who overcame the second Chinese pairing.

New Zealand’s Michaela Drummond and Racquel Sheath won the women’s madison, with the pair combing to end on a winning points total of 22.

They were followed by Denmark’s Trine Schmidt and Julie Leth on 16 points, while Italy’s Elisa Balsamo and Maria Cavalli took bronze on 13.

The World Cup season will close in Belarus’ capital Minsk, where action will be held from January 19 to 21, 2018.

It follows events at Pruszków in Poland, Manchester in Britain and Milton in Canada, which hosted competition last week.
