Slovakia beat Australia by a 21-1 scoreline on day three of the International Floorball Federation (IFF) Women’s World Floorball Championships 2017 in Bratislava, Slovakia.

It was a certainly convincing performance from the home nation as they raced into a two-goal lead after just seven minutes.

Australia had set up to try and play on the counter-attack, but it completely backfired as the Slovak’s ripped the Australian defence to shreds.

In comparison to the rest of the match, the first half was relatively tame with Slovakia scoring just the three goals.

However, they increased the intensity in the second and third periods, scoring 18 goals in the process.

This result means that Slovakia have finished top of Group C, two points ahead of Estonia.

Estonia’s match, against Singapore, also contained a high number of goals but was far more competitive with the final score reading 10-4.

A similarly close affair came in the USA v Thailand match where the Americans just about pulled through after a late Thailand rally nearly handed victory to the Asian side.

The game seemed to have already been decided by the end of the second period with the USA 8-4 in front.

However, Thailand scored three late goals in the third and final period to get American hearts racing.

In the end, the USA held out to record a 9-7 victory overall.

Much like Slovakia, two other countries recorded comfortable wins today with Switzerland and Finland running out 14-0 and 10-1 winners against Germany and Norway, respectively.

The final match of the day saw defending world champions Sweden beat Poland 10-1.
