Australia's Jade Lucy defended her women's 400 metres freestyle S14 title on the second day of the International Federation for Intellectual Impairment Sport (Inas) Swimming World Championships in Aguascalientes in Mexico.

Lucy took the gold with ease as she saw off her nearest challenger, Mexico's Beatriz Resendiz De Garcia, at the halfway stage of the race, eventually finishing with a time of 5min 03.81sec, more than four seconds ahead of the Mexican.

The United States' Leslie Cichocki secured her second bronze medal of the competition with a time of 5:15.34.

The men’s 400m freestyle S14 event resulted in excellent results for the Japanese team with Shunya Murakami and Yuki Yamanaka securing the gold and silver medals with times of 4:39.54 and 4:41.32 respectively.

Spain’s Luis Francisco Paredes took the bronze medal to prevent a clean sweep.

Much like in the women's 400m freestyle S14, the women's 400m individual medley S14 title was won by a previous champion.

Chinese Taipei’s Jo-Lin Tu, winner of multiple Inas Swimming Championship medals over the years, claimed the gold medal with a time of 6:27.31, 21 seconds ahead of Adela Mikova of the Czech Republic, who took silver.

American swimmer Gina Grant took third place in  8:14.19.

The men’s 400m individual medley SM14 was a similarly one-sided affair with Japan claiming their second gold of the day through Taiga Hayashida, who touched the wall in 5:15.18.

South Africa’s Aaron Putz won his second medal of the Championships, following up yesterday's gold with a silver in 5:32.58.

Jonathan Pierce of the US  took the last place on the podium.
