Sweden and Denmark have been awarded major events by the European Union of Gymnastics (UEG) during the last Executive Committee meeting under Georges Guelzec before he is due to step down as President.

The Frenchman, who has led the UEG for eight years, will be replaced by Azerbaijan's Farid Gayibov or Slovenia's Edvard Kolar when the election takes place at the 27th UEG Congress in Split tomorrow.

Gothenburg were awarded the 2020 European Championships in trampoline, double mini-trampoline and tumbling, which has been scheduled for May 7 to 10.

Copenhagen, meanwhile, were awarded the TeamGym Europeans.

The event is due to take place in October 2020 with the exact dates to be confirmed.

TeamGym is a form of competition created by the UEG and consists of three sections: women, men and mixed teams.

Athletes perform gymnastic skills in three different disciplines: floor, tumbling and trampette.

Reykjavik in Iceland has been provisionally awarded EUROGYM 2020 subject to approval by the Gymnastics for All Technical Committee following a site visit.

The event, a non-competitive festival, is specifically for young people aged between 12 and 18 years.

The election to replace Guelzec is said to be "very close".

Gayibov is currently vice-president of the UEG and secretary general of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation.

Kolar has served as secretary general of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia since 2015.

He used to coach Mitja Petkovšek, a two-time parallel bars world champion, before becoming chief executive and secretary general of the Slovenian Gymnastics Federation.

There are six candidates in the running for three vice-president positions.

Current incumbents Ruedi Hediger of Switzerland and Sweden's Malin Eggertz Forsmark are both seeking re-election.

Michel Boutard of France, Paolo Frising of Luxembourg, Iordan Iovtchev of Bulgaria and Greece's Athanasios Vasileiadis are the other four candidates.
