Norway's Maren Lundby finished on top of qualifying for the FIS Ski Jumping qualifying round in Lillehammer, Norway.

She finished ahead of Japan's Sara Takanashi and Yuki Ito.

In total 40 jumpers out of an original field of 59 go forward to tomorrow's main competition.

Fourth place went to Germany's Carina Vogt, ahead of compatriot Svenja Wuerth.

Finishing in the top ten were France's Lucile Morat, Italy's Lara Malsiner, Germany's  Gianina Ernst and France duo Lea Lemare and Julia Clair.

Lundy's two-jump total of 126.1 was enough to see off Takanashi's 123.5 and Ito's 117.7.

It was Takanashi who shone in the first jump with a minimum of wind, scoring 81.3 points.

Lundby came in second place with 76.8 points,  in unfavorable conditions.

Ito with 69.1 points completed the top three. 

Finishing inside the top six were two German women, Vogt and Svenja Wuerth  and also 

In the second qualification round Lundby showed her class, with a huge jump of 95.5 meters to gain 78.9 points. 

Second place was taken by the German athlete Katharina Althaus with 72.5 points and third was Takanashi with 71.6 points. 

The top six finishers were Carina Vogt, Russian Irina Avvakumova and Ito.
