French teenager Tom Dolle has underlined his star quality with a dominant performance in the preliminary rounds of the men’s junior kayak event at the International Canoe Federation (ICF) Canoe Freestyle Kayak Championships in San Juan in Argentina.
The 17-year-old produced a flawless display at the White Water Park, posting a score of 2,810 points.
"I’m pretty happy - I had some good rides," Dolle said.
"It was a lot of fun.
"I’m super nervous, but it’s part of the game.
"I have a routine, but I don’t really do it in the preliminaries because I don’t want to do my biggest rides.
"So I keep those rides for the end.
"I’m feeling nervous, but happy at the same time to be here.
"This hole is super fun, easy and really good for doing tricks."
Great Britain’s Alex Walters was Dolle’s nearest challenger with 2,111.67 points.
The United States’ Hayden Voorhees finished third on 2,063.33 points.
In the preliminary rounds of the women’s junior kayak event, American Sage Donnelly topped the rankings with 866.67 points.
Britain’s Ottilie Robinson-Shaw finished second with 773.34 points and America's Olivia McGinnis third with 573.33.
The men’s and women’s junior kayak semi-finals are due to take place on Friday (December 1).
They will be followed by the finals on Saturday (December 2).
Action in San Juan is due to continue tomorrow with preliminaries in the men’s kayak senior event.
