The Algerian Olympic Committee (COA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the HEC Alger Business School.

The deal continues a successful partnership which has already existed between the two organisations.

Last year, the COA set up a doctorate programme called "Management and Marketing in Sport" in collaboration with the school.

Six students have since benefited from this training course, with teachers and sports figures from Algeria and other countries sharing their experiences with those taking part.

Classes were held at the COA headquarters in Algiers.

The MoU comes after the COA organised a meeting with sports representatives from the country.

Mustapha Berraf, the COA President, chaired the event which was attended by female sports figures from the North African nation.

This included athletes, sports leaders and senior governance officials.

Women in sport was a key topic at the meeting.

Algeria won two silver medals at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in August.

Middle distance runner Taoufik Makhloufi claimed both after finishing second in the men's 800 metres and 1,500m.

Capital city Algiers is currently gearing up to host the 2018 African Youth Games.

The African nation will also stage the 2021 Mediterranean Games in Oran.
