Belgium's Sanne Cant claimed her second straight International Cycling Union (UCI) Cyclo-cross World Cup victory in Zeven.

The European champion had triumphed at the German event on its return to the World Cup circuit in 2016, following a 12-year absence.

Cant was joined at the front of today’s race by the United States’ Katherine Compton during the early stages of racing.

The World Cup leader was eventually able to move clear, as she established an eight second lead heading into the last of the five laps.

Despite being chased by Britain’s Helen Wyman and Compton, Cant would stay solo as she claimed victory in a time of 51min 29sec.

The result added to Cant’s victories in Waterloo and Bogense, as she strengthened her grip in the overall series.

Wyman finished 12 seconds adrift of the winner to end as the runner-up, with Compton ending a further 11 down to complete the podium places.
