Egypt and France both claimed comfortable victories as men's action began at the International Federation for Intellectual Impairment Sport (Inas) World Basketball Championships in Italy.

France, runners-up at the 2015 edition of the event, beat Poland 69-24 in their opening group one encounter at the Palagarassini Stadium in Loano.

The Egyptian side were in dominant form in their group two clash against Portugal.

Egypt raced up a century in points as they dispatched their Portuguese opponents, who won the 2013 tournament and clinched bronze in 2015, 100-16.

Action at the Championships is due to continue tomorrow.

The competition runs until November 25, when the medal matches will be played.
