Belarus and the United States are go head-to-head for the Fed Cup title at the Chizhovka Arena in Minsk, with the final poised to begin tomorrow.

The host nation will be seeking to secure the final for the first time in their history, while the United States will seek to clinch their record 18th title.

America, though, have not won the team event since they beat Spain 5-0 in the 2000 final.

CoCo Vandeweghe will hope to lead their challenge, with the 25-year-old set to open the tournament against Belarus’ Aliaksandra Sasnovich tomorrow.

"I don’t know much about the Belarus team," Vandeweghe said.

"I feel like I’m coming in with wool over my eyes a little bit."

Both players are currently unbeaten in the Fed Cup this year, which could make their clash a vital one as they look to get their teams off to an ideal start.

The winner will also have the chance to become the first player since Petra  Kvitová to record a perfect Fed Cup season, the Czech star having remained unbeaten in 2011.

The second singles rubber will see Sloane Stephens, the US Open champion, face home favourite Aryna Sabalenka.

Sabalenka is currently ranked at 78th in the world , on paper a long way behind the 13th-ranked Stephens, but has nevertheless enjoyed an impressive year, as she became Belarussian number one for the first time.

The reverse singles are due to take place on Sunday (November 12), with a doubles match possible should the scores be level.

Shelby Rogers and Alison Riske have currently been nominated for the US, favourites to earn the title.

Belarus could call upon Vera Lapko and Lidziya Marozawa should the fifth rubber be required.

The host nation have been deprived of one of their star players in Victoria Azarenka, with the former world number one currently engaged in a custody battle.

She is currently unable to take her 10 month son Leo out of California, leaving her unable to compete.

Azarenka also missed the US Open due to the same legal arrangement.
