Recently-crowned world compound champion Sebastien Peineau of France could renew his rivalry with Denmark's Stephan Hansen as the duo are among the headline names due to compete at the opening Indoor Archery World Cup event of the season in Marrakech this weekend.

Peineau arrives in the Moroccan city having claimed the gold medal in the men's compound event at the World Archery Championships in Mexico City last month.

The 30-year-old, an Indoor Archery World Championships silver medallist in 2012, will hope to rekindle the form he showed in the Mexican capital at the event at the Salle Couverte SYBA.

Hansen lost out to Peineau in Mexico City and will aim for the earliest possible revenge at the first Indoor World Cup of the campaign, which begins on Saturday (November 11) and concludes on Sunday (November 12).

World Championships bronze medallist Braden Gellenthein of the United States is also among the entrants in Marrakech in what is set to be an exciting men's compound competition.

All three women's compound podium finishers in Mexico City are absent from the season opener.

South Korea, who enjoyed a successful World Championships and swept all three available medals at last year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, have not sent a team to the competition.

There will be no reigning Olympic or world champions competing in Marrakech as women's recurve athlete Ksenia Perova, who won the women's world title last month, is also among the absentees.

Following the completion of the Marrakech leg, the Indoor World Cup circuit is scheduled to head to Bangkok for the second event from December 2 to 3.
