Home shooter Scott Anderson of Australia was a winner on the final day of the Commonwealth Shooting Federation and Oceania Shooting Federation Championships – the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Test event - as he finished top individual scorer in the Oceania 25 metres standard pistol mixed event.

More than 300 competitors from 23 different nations have participated in Shotgun, Rifle, Pistol, and Fullbore events from October 31 to November 7 at the Belmont Shooting Complex in Brisbane, which will host the 2018 Gold Coast events, and home hopes have been raised by a succession of podium finishes for Australians.

Anderson finished his competition at the trial for the Gold Coast Games with a total of 559, seven shots clear of his fellow Australia Team A colleague Sergei Evglevski.

Anderson and Evglevski’s performance was sufficient to earn overall victory for Team A over Australia Team B, for whom Garry Heinrich finished third with 549.

Heinrich’s Team B colleague Mike Giustiniano, who combined with Bruce Quick and Kel Vickers to set the Oceania team record of 1706 in 1993, finished sixth and last with 542.
