Pyeongchang 2018 have signed an agreement with Procter & Gamble (P&G) Korea to help promote next year’s Olympic Games.

P&G, a member of The Olympic Partner programme, have previously run campaigns in the build-up to the London 2012, Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The American multinational consumer goods company are set to run a nationwide campaign in South Korea as the countdown continues to next year’s Games.

The campaign aims to receive messages of encouragement for athletes from across the country.

Athletes are then expected to send responses as part of the exchange.

The agreement was officially confirmed at the Plaza Hotel in Pyeongchang, with organising committee President Lee Hee-beom and P&G Korea President Kim Joo-yeon present.

"The organisers are preparing for the Olympics at the highest level ever, and will do their best to bring the public active participation with the global company P&G,” said Lee.

“I would like to ask for your interest and participation."

The campaign has been titled “Reply 50 million” in reference to South Korea’s population, with the country boasting just over 50 million people.

It is hoped the initiative will enhance the involvement the public have in the Games.

"Korea P&G, which has been promoting Olympic campaigns for the past eight years as a global Olympic partner, will provide support for the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic athletes and Korean citizens through ‘Reply 50 million’,” said Kim.

The Games are due to take place from February 9 to 25.

The Winter Paralympics will follow between March 8 to 18.
