Singapore's Yeo Jia Min crashed out of the women's singles event at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Junior Championships after she was beaten by unseeded Chinese player Zhou Meng in Yogyakarta.

Meng booked her place in the quarter-finals of the tournament in the Indonesian city with a 21-16, 21-19 win over the second seed at the GOR Among Rogo Arena.

The Chinese will go up against team-mate and fifth seed Han Yue in the last eight.

Han joined her compatriot in progressing to the next round after she overcame ninth seed Chasinee Korepap of Thailand 21-12, 21-13.

Korepap was a rare Thai casualty on the fourth day of the competition as Kunlavut Vitidsarn and Pattarasuda Chaiwan, the top men's and women's singles seeds respectively, both booked their place in the quarter-finals.

Vitidsarn came through a tough opening game in his clash with Hong Kong's Ko Shing Hei before emerging with a 22-20, 21-14 success.

Takuma Obayashi continued his impressive run at the event by beating fellow Japanese player Hikaru Minegishi 21-12, 21-14 to set up a meeting with the top seed in the last eight.

Chaiwan was pushed all the way by South Korea's Se Young-an in her fifth-round clash yesterday but enjoyed much more serene progress as she swept aside Qi Xuan Eoon of Malaysia 21-6, 21-8 in just 23 minutes.

Cai Yanyan of China, the sixth seed, awaits for the 16-year-old tomorrow.

Malaysia's Goh Jin Wei, the 2015 world junior champion, was among the other winners today as she ended the hopes of home favourite Choirunnisa Choirunnisa with a 21-15, 21-19 win.

The tournament is due to continue tomorrow.
