The programme was discussed by a purpose-formed Committee, which held its first meeting at the BOC premises in Seef.

BOC sports federations director Hisham Al Blooshi, projects manager Lounes Madene and those involved in the relevant National Federations were present.

Proceedings centred around Madene giving a briefing on the National Day Festival programme.

Bahrain National Day is the celebration of the country's independence and of the accession to the throne of its first post-independence monarch.

Although Bahrain declared its independence on August 15, 1971, National Day is celebrated on December 16, because on that date the first Bahraini king, Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, was crowned.
