European Athletics President Svein Arne Hansen has today met with Belarus Athletic Federation counterpart Vadim Devyatovskiy and Belarus' Sport and Tourism Minister Alexander Shamko to discuss "future activities" in the country.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 2017 European Athletics Convention and Congress here in Lithuania’s capital.

It comes at a time when Belarus' capital Minsk is preparing to host the 2019 European Games, where European Athletics' Dynamic New Athletics (DNA) concept is set to make its debut.

Initial ideas for DNA were presented here today during a Member Federations' leaders forum held as part of the Convention.

Libor Varhanik, a European Athletics Council and Executive Board member, and Marcel Wakim, head of new product development at European Athletics, outlined the key points on the national team-based competition that will combine male and female athletes.

In June of this year, Minsk played host to the 2017 European 10,000 metres Cup.

This event is considered one of the most eagerly-awaited individual races on the European calendar due to the high-quality fields it attracts.

Minsk is also due to host an under-20 international match from February 23 to 26, 2018, and an international competition for seniors, under-23s, under-20s and under-18s from March 2 to 4, 2018.

Athletics is one of 15 sports on the programme for Minsk 2019.

The second edition of the European Games are scheduled to take place from June 21 to 30.
