World champions Jacqueline Lölling, Francesco Friedrich and Johannes Lochner have been named on Germany's squad for the upcoming International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup season.

The trio, who all won gold at the IBSF World Championships in Königssee in February, are expected to be on the start line for the first World Cup event of the campaign in Lake Placid next month.

Reigning European champion Lölling clinched the women's skeleton title on home soil in Königssee, while Friedrich was part of the victorious two and four man bobsleigh teams.

Lochner was also a member of the German quartet which topped the podium in the four-man bobsleigh competition at the Championships, initially due to be held in Sochi before the Russian city was stripped of the event following the publication of the McLaren Report.

The trio form the basis for a strong German team in the lead-up to February's Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.

They join two World Championships silver medallists in skeleton, Axel Jungk and Tina Hermann, and bobsleigh pilot Nico Walther on the German squad.

It also includes bobsleigh pilot Stephanie Schneider, who won a bronze medal at last year's European Championships.

The German Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton Federation are due to name the rest of their team following selection races at the artificial track in Königssee on Saturday (October 14) and Sunday (October 15).

The World Cup season, which takes on added significance this year with Pyeongchang 2018 drawing closer, begins with the first event in Lake Placid on November 9 and 10.
