The Indian Federation has expressed its support for UWW's "Grow Wrestling" initiatives.

They hope to participate in other projects to grow wrestling across India, as well as the rest of south-east Asia.

India failed to win a medal at the UWW World Championships in Paris in August.

They did collect a bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, however, courtesy of Sakshi Malik in the women's freestyle 58 kilograms event.
