altSeptember 21 - Visit London, the body tasked with boosting business and tourism in the capital, has promoted Martine Ainsworth-Wells (pictured) to the new position of director of marketing and communications.

She replace Ken Kelling, who has left to work on the torch relay for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

Ainsworth-Wells has been marketing director at Visit London since 2004 and will be responsible for the marketing and brand functions, along with communications and public relations, including consumer public relations and corporate and public affairs.

She will work alongside Mark Howell, the director of London 2012 at Visit London.

Ainsworth-Wells oversaw the implementation of the "Only In London" global campaign for the capital last year.

Prior to joining Visit London, she worked in the radio industry at EMAP Radio, and at Heart FM as head of promotions and sponsorship.

She then moved to the Evening Standard before joining Visit London in 2004.

Sally Chatterjee, Visit London chief executive said: "We have a busy year ahead as we support the lead-up to the 2012 Olympic Games, the thousands of conferences and visitors, and the numerous other exciting events around this city - and we know Martine will bring her passion and experience to make it all happen."
