A new brand and strategy, including an updated logo, has been unveiled by the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) at an event in capital city Doha today.

The QOC officially launched their new logo, Team Qatar website, the first-ever Team Qatar Club and re-designed Team Qatar social media channels during the celebratory event.

It is claimed the fresh brand and strategy will help to "to take sport in Qatar to even greater levels of success".

The logo was revealed at the Qatar National Convention Centre, with the event attended by QOC President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani and a host of sporting stars from the country.

High jump world champion Mutaz Barshim, Olympic show jumping finalist Sheikh Ali Al Thani, and Paralympic silver medallist Abdulrahman Abdelqader were among those in attendance.

The event came after the QOC held their Extraordinary General Assembly, where Sheikh Saud bin Al Thani was confirmed as the organisation's first vice-president.

Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari was appointed as second vice-president and Jassim Rashid Al-Buenain was appointed secretary general.

"Sport showcases the very best of humanity and it inspires humanity to give the very best version of itself," said Sheikh Joaan.

"It provides hope, opportunity and unity."

Sheikh Joaan added: "This is why I love sport so much, and why I am so excited about today’s launch of the QOC’s new brand and strategy.

"We are an ambitious and optimistic nation and like every successful athlete, we are determined to continue to better ourselves, push our boundaries, breakdown barriers and re-define sporting greatness.

"Today is one of the most important moments in Qatar’s sporting past, present or future.

"It is a game-changing moment that will open sport up to more people than ever before, create new heroes and fuel future success.

"We are all Team Qatar and I can’t wait for us all to seize this opportunity."

The new QOC strategy comes following a three-year process to develop world-class structures, processes and performance measures.

"The strategy aims to optimise partnerships between all of Qatar’s sporting entities, uniting everyone behind one, shared vision to become a leading nation in bringing the world together through sustainable sports development," the QOC said.

The Team Qatar Club will be a digital fan club and online sporting community, featuring as a private, members-only area on the new Team Qatar website and will provide exclusive and behind the scenes content.
