Sentinel Homes have signed on as the title sponsor of this year's women's Hockey World League Final in Auckland, it has been announced.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) and Hockey New Zealand confirmed they had signed an agreement with the Auckland-based home building company today.

It will see Sentinel Homes have the naming rights for the tournament, due to run from November 17 to 26 at the Harbour Hockey Stadium.

Hockey New Zealand chief executive Ian Francis claimed having a partner of the calibre of Sentinel Homes, formed in 2009, would be critical to the success of the event.

"Our aim is to create a legacy for hockey throughout New Zealand from this event and be a sports brand that links strongly to families," he said.

"So we’re thrilled Sentinel Homes are supporting this milestone event for hockey in this country.

“A lot of families and young people will be watching this event, and we hope they are inspired to take up hockey as their sport, or at least to be active.

"That’s the sort of impact high profile events like this can generate, so we're very grateful for the support of Sentinel Homes."

The competition in Auckland is due to feature defending World League champions Argentina, England, whose side will include several players who won the Olympic gold medal for Britain at Rio 2016, and Olympic bronze medallists Germany.

Hosts New Zealand are in Pool A alongside seven-time World Cup winners The Netherlands, the United States and South Korea.

Argentina, Britain and Germany have been drawn in a tough Pool B, which also features China.
