This year's International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Nations Cup Jumping campaign is set to conclude with the grand final in Barcelona.

It is the fifth consecutive year that the final will take place at the Real Club de Polo (CSIO) in the Catalan city.

It will take place 25 years after Barcelona staged the Olympic Games in 1992, where equestrian was held at CSIO.

The Nations Cup has been held every year since 1909, with the best 15 teams from the 2017 jumping season set to compete.

Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates and the United States are all due to all line up in tomorrow's qualifying competition.

Only eight of those nations will make the cut for the deciding class on Saturday (September 30) while the remainder will compete in the Challenge Cup on Friday (September 29).

The defending champions are Germany, winners of the title 12 months ago in a thrilling jump-off between Marcus Ehning and Rio 2016 Olympic gold medallist Nick Skelton of Great Britain.

Ehning is once again a part of the German squad hoping to retain their title.

Champions in 2015, Belgium were relegated last year but have rallied to return to the event's top table.

A superb season saw them finish top of Europe Division Two, earning their place at this week’s final and a return to Division One in 2018.

Three of the French team that won team gold at Rio 2016 will be in action.

Roger Yves Bost, Penelope Leprevost and Kevin Staut will be hoping to add Nations Cup success to their Olympic title.
