England will be hoping to win a third consecutive overall gold medal when the 11th European Bowls Team Championships begin in Jersey tomorrow.

England were the dominant force in both the 2015 and 2013 championships held in Tel Aviv and Alicante respectively.

Alex Walton, Ashley Caress, Rebecca Field and Amy Stanton claimed the overall team gold medal in Israel two years ago as well as the women's and mixed pairs titles.

Men's pairs winners Guernsey finished second while The Netherlands completed the top three.

Despite only winning the mixed fours event in Alicante, England were also crowned overall champions in 2013.

The squad of Jamie Walker, Robert Paxton, Jamie-Lea Winch and Wendy King were victorious.
