GB Taekwondo has announced a deal with Össur UK to provide injury solution products.

The company will supply ligament knee braces and wrist and ankle supports to British athletes, who frequently experience injuries in the high-contact sport.

The Icelandic firm was founded in 1971 and has offices in Stockport, just outside Manchester where GB Taekwondo is based.

It is hoped that the collaboration will enable athletes to access innovative medical products which aid rehabilitation with the best possible outcome.

Doug Jones, director of Altius Healthcare, which provides physiotherapy services to the GB Taekwondo team, said: "It's great to be working with Össur as we are committed to providing the team with the best injury prevention solutions.

"We believe this new partnership could benefit our athletes' mobility a great deal whilst they are competing and through their rehabilitation process too."

Össur welcomed the new link-up, with double Olympic gold medallist Jade Jones and world champion Bianca Walkden among those set to benefit.

"Össur UK is pleased to support GB Taekwondo with injury solutions products and will be rooting for the team in every aspect as they take on the challenges ahead," said managing director Emlyn Lewis.
