Bach admits he has not watched the Icarus documentary on Russian doping which, to me, seems very strange considering it documents such an important investigation affecting the Olympic Games.

Back to bidding, and he firmly rejects any notion of them scrapping the current system of IOC members and allowing International Federations to play a more direct role. "Would you have wanted Lamine Diack to play a more direct role?" he asks.

Is Lamine Diack the one black sheep? "I was merely quoting the French authorities," Bach replies. "I take no stand with regard to the evidence or other inquires. We want to find out about everything that affects us."

What is the image of the IOC in your opinion? "Everybody has a different image of an organisation...," he begins. "I am asking for yours," responds the probing questioner.

"It is not up to me to have an opinion," he says. "This is up to others, but all I would say is that this should be based on facts rather than opinions."
