Germany’s Robert Behling and Thomas Becker snatched the overall C2 title from Jonas Kaspar and Marek Sindler of the Czech Republic on a dramatic day of action at the Canoe Slalom World Cup in Barcelona.

The German duo won the C2 event on the first day of finals at the La Seu dÚrgell course, used when the Spanish city hosted the 1992 Olympic Games, to overtake the Czech pair.

Behling and Becker completed their final run in a time of 102.81, with Kaspar and Sindler only managing fourth place.

David Schroeder and Nico Bettge, also of Germany, were second behind their team-mates, while Gauthier Klauss and Matthieu Peche of France were third.

The result handed Behling and Becker the overall crown as they ended the season on a total of 312 points, two in front of the Czech team.

"We had not such a good start to the season, but we have been on the podium for the past four World Cups, so we hope we keep that form going forward to the World Championships," Behling said.

Slovenia’s Peter Kauzer triumphed in the men's K1 event today as Vit Prindis of the Czech Republic did enough to clinch the overall title by finishing sixth.
