England Handball has released its strategic plan for the next four years, which aims to build on the work undertaken in recent history.

The ambitious plan, designed for the period from 2017 to 2021, also outlines England Handball’s key audiences and priority areas.

As part of the plan, England Handball has established three objectives that will help the organisation in achieving its long-term vision.

The first is to enable as many people as possible to discover handball and ensure they have opportunities to get into the sport.

Secondly, it is hoped people will engage actively and regularly in the sport through methods such as playing, coaching and officiating.

England Handball also wants as many people as possible to "achieve their potential in whatever role they choose" by providing clear routes of progression.

Underpinning these three pillars are six "priority areas of activity".

These are titled "the education sector", "community handball", "club and competition structure", "talent pathway", "handball workforce" and "commercial opportunities".

The full strategic plan can be found here.

It follows the news that the top handball league in England has been re-branded as the Premier Handball League.

The men’s and women’s elite leagues were formerly known as Super-8 but organisers claim the change "ensures brand consistency under any future expansion of the highest tier".

The Premier Handball League logo is also said to provide a "recognisable identity" for the top league, helping raise the profile of the sport.

“I've experienced first-hand how much handball in England has grown over the past few years," said Nottingham player and Great Britain international Jordan Price.

"This new look is the next step in developing the popularity, participation and quality of the game.

"I'm very excited to be playing in the Premier Handball League.”
