Taiwan's Hsu Jen Hao is starting as top seed for the men's singles competition beginning tomorrow at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Vietnam Open in Ho Chi Minh City.

Hsu, world ranked number 28, is the leading entrant in the absence of Hong Kong's defending champion Vincent Wong Wang Ki.

Main draw action is due to begin tomorrow in the men's singles at the Nguyen Du Cultural Sports Club following the completion of qualifying earlier in the day.

It marks the first major international competition following the World Championships in Glasgow.

World number 41 Khosit Phetpradab of Thailand is among other leading entrants.

Zulfadli Zulkiffli of Malaysia, the world number 40, is also competing.

World number 27 Sayaka Takahashi of Japan is the top seed in the corresponding women's draw.

Main competition there is not set to begin until Wednesday (September 6), however.

Action is then due to continue until Sunday (September 10).
