Nick Lucena and Phil Dalhausser produced a superb performance to beat world champions Evandro Goncalves and Andre Loyola Stein and win the International Volleyball Federation Beach World Tour Finals title in Hamburg today.

The American duo went one better than their silver medal at the 2015 World Tour Finals with a near-perfect performance against their Brazilian opponents.

They won the first set 21-15 at the Rothenbaum Stadium before maintaining their dominance to take the second 21-13.

Dalhausser was particularly impressive with a brilliant display at the net, with four winning blocks in a sizzling 10 point period in the second set.

"Winning never get old," the 37-year-old said after collecting the 37th title of his career.

"Anytime you play Brazil in the final you know it's going to be tough playing the world champions.

"It's tough every year on tour but we're happy to leave with gold."

Paolo Nicolai and Daniele Lupo claimed bronze for Italy after defeating Piotr Kantor and Bartosz Losiak of Poland.

The Olympic silver medallists recovered from losing the second set to win 21-17, 19-21, 15-12.

It made partial amends for their failure to finish in the top 10 at this month's World Championships in Vienna.
