On another busy night of swimming action at the National Taiwan Sport University Arena, Haughey touched the wall first in the women's 200 metres freestyle final in a time of 1min 56.71sec, a Universiade record.

It doubled Hong Kong's medal tally here after she also won their first and only medal so far earlier this week in the 100m freestyle.

Katherine Drabot of the United States took the silver medal in 1:57.61 while Russian Arina Openysheva finished with bronze in 1:58.53.

Rapsys also doubled his gold medal tally by winning his third medal of Taipei 2017.

After winning the men's 200m freestyle and placing third in the 100m backstroke already, Rapsys touched the wall first in the final of the men's 200m backstroke in 1:56.52.

Austin Katz of the US finished second in 1:56.70 and Roman Larin of Russia rounded out the podium in 1:57.29.

Quadarella set a Universiade record in the first final of the night to take gold in the women's 800m freestyle.

It is her second title of Taipei 2017 and her second Universiade record following her domination of the women's 1,500m freestyle earlier this week.

She posted a time of 8:20.54 to narrowly beat German Sarah Koehler, who took the silver medal in 8:21.67.

Joanna Evans of the Bahamas won the bronze medal in 8:31.18.

Elsewhere in the pool, Russia's Aleksandr Sadovnikov won the men's 100m butterfly in a time 51.81sec.

Ukraine's Andrii Khloptsov touched the wall narrowly behind in 51.91 and Henrique De Souza Martins of Brazil claimed the bronze medal with his time of 51.96.

Kira Marije Toussaint won The Netherlands' first gold medal of Taipei 2017 but shared the women's 50m backstroke title with Alexandra De Loof of the US

They both touched the wall in 28.07 following a thrilling finale to split the title.

De Loof was joined on the podium by compatriot Hannah Stevens, winner of the bronze medal in 28.14.

Belarus' Ilya Shymanovich won the gold medal in the penultimate swimming event of the night.

He swam 27.39 to finish first in the 50m breaststroke final.

Erik Skagius of Sweden finished with the silver medal in 27.49 and Germany's Fabian Schwingenschloegl completed the top three with a time of 27.63.

Bringing swimming action to a close this evening was Japan's gold medal in the men's 4x200m freestyle relay.

They won in 7:08.45, finishing in front of the US.

The Americans took silver in 7:12.19 and Russia the bronze with their time of 7:13.47.
