A Swedish team inspired by Peder Fredricson moved into the overall lead after the first round of competition at the International Equestrian Federation European Championships at Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg today.

Fredricson, riding H&M All In, completed a second successive clear round inside the time limit after yesterday's qualifier to remain at the top of the leaderboard.

Marcus Ehning of Germany on Pret A Tout is in second place after accruing just 0.59 time faults.

Luciana Diniz of Portugal lies third, on 0.67 faults, on Fit for Fun 13.

Kevin Staut of France is also still in close contention, in fourth 0.91 back on Reveur de Hurtebise HDC, but Switzerland's Steve Guerdat tumbled down the pecking order after dropping a fence on Bianca today.

Fredricson was joined in the Swedish team by Malin Baryard-Johnsson, who also rode clear on H&M Cue Channa today.

Douglas Lindelöw accrued four faults on Zacramento as the team collectively finished on 8.21 points.

Switzerland dropped to second after Guerdat's dropped fence on 11,15.

Ireland are third on 12,11.

The team competition is due to finish tomorrow.
