World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue met with officials from British Taekwondo during a visit to London in which he also inspected the site of a potential new "hub" for the sport.

Choue attended a Board meeting in the capital city at which development plans for the sport were discussed.

Methods by which the organisation can "contribute to the ambitions of World Taekwondo that have emerged out of the recent 2017 General Assembly in Muju" were also considered.

London is hosting the 2017 World Para Taekwondo Championships on October 19 while Manchester has been selected as host of the 2019 World Championships.

Britain is also one of the strongest taekwondo nations in a competitive sense.

Heavyweight Bianca Walkden successfully defended her over-73 kilograms title at this year's World Championships in Muju while there were also bronze medals for Bradly Sinden, Damon Samsun and two-time Olympic champion Jade Jones.

Choue and other officials also visited the University of East London, where British Taekwondo are "investigating" opening a hub for members in London and the south-east.

They are also considering the possibility of starting an international educational course in taekwondo, based on those that exist across the South Korean system.

"We are extremely pleased that President Choue could find space in his very busy schedule to spend time with us in London," said British Taekwondo chair Jon Smith.

"It was an honour to host the President, present some of the strategic plans that we are focusing on within British Taekwondo and discuss how we, as a Member National Association, can contribute more to the future of World Taekwondo."
