Boels-Dolmans produced a fine performance to top the team time trial podium Crescent Vargarda in Sweden for the second year in a row today.

Their six riders, including Rio 2016 women’s road race champion Anna van der Breggen of The Netherlands, got round the 42.5 kilometres course in Vargarda in a time of 52min 39.1sec.

This put the Dutch-based team 12.7 seconds in front of the Cervélo–Bigla Pro Cycling, while Canyon Sram Racing completed the podium in the International Cycling Union Women’s World Tour event.

Alongside Van Der Breggen was her compatriotS Chantal Blaak and Amy Pieters, Karol-Ann Canuel of Canada, Danish rider Amalie Dideriksen and Christine Majerus of Luxembourg.

After securing victory, Blaak praised the performance of the whole team.

"Cycling is a team sport, but when you win you’re alone on the podium," she said according to a tweet from Boels-Dolmans.

"A TTT [team time trial] is special because you celebrate together."

Riders will now have a day off before return to action on Sunday (August 13).

On that day, they are due to tackle a 152km course in a road race.
