Indian shooter Ankur Mittal secured both the men's individual and team double trap gold medals at the seventh Asian Shotgun Championships in Astana in Kazakhstan.

The 25-year-old, who competed at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, shot 71 points in the six-man individual final to clinch the gold medal at the Eldorado Shooting Club.

Khaled Alkaabi of the United Arab Emirates finished in silver medal position on 70 points.

Alkaabi's compatriot, Saif Alshamsy, rounded out the podium but finished way back in bronze medal position on 53 points.

In the team competition, the scores of Mittal's compatriots Sangram Dahiya and Mohammad Asab were added to his total.

With Dahiya producing a total of 43 points and Asab adding 34, the trio had a combined total of 148.

In the individual event Dahiya finished fourth and Asab occupied fifth position.

Today's victories continue an impressive season for Mittal.

He has already won a gold medal at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup in Acapulco, beating his Australian rival James Willet in the final.

Before that he also claimed a silver in the inaugural World Cup stage of the season held in New Delhi, where Willet took gold on that occasion.
