Hosts Russia earned themselves five gold medals on the third day of the World Underwater Federation World Junior Finswimming Championships in Tomsk.

Their haul came during a day where Hungary also had plenty of success, collecting three golds at the Aquatics Centre Zvezdniy.

Viktoria Partsakhashvili got the host nation’s first victory of the day as she triumphed in the 400 metre immersion event with a time of 3min 03.52sec.

Greece’s Eleftheria Arkoudi was 12.47sec behind in second place while Russia’s Valeriia Kuznetsova won bronze.

Russia’s evening session had started with a success for Ekaterina Mikhaylushkina in the 50m surface event, with South Korea’s Kim Min-jeong coming second.

Mikhailushkina’s team-mate Margarita Russo finished third.

Aleksey Fedkin also put in a podium topping performance for the Russian team as he took the men’s 50m bi-fins, with his compatriot Evgeniy Shishov claiming the silver medal and Jakub Klimpar of the Czech Republic bronze.

The hosts’ final two golds came in relay events, first in the women’s 4x200m surface before the men’s team repeated the success.

Hungary saw their gold rush begin in the women’s 50 bi-fins with Anita Szabo winning ahead of Russia’s Valeriia Andreeva and Italian squad member Viola Magoga.

Alex Mozsar then added the men’s 400m immersion title to the country’s tally, finished in front of Ukrainian Vitalii Sushchenko and Alexandr Khudyshkin of Russia.

Dorothy Hamlin was the next Hungarian gold medallist in the women’s 400m bi-fins race, seeing off the challenge of Greek swimmer Evdoxia Thomakou and France’s Desbordes Joana.

Two more golds were up for grabs today, with South Korea’s Han Gun-young topping the men’s 50m surface podium.

Greek team member Konstantinos Stylianos Livogiannis finished first in the men’s 400m bi-fins final.
